Muppozudum Un Karpanaigal- Shot at The Gardens Bangalore designed by Jaffer AA Khan

Bangalore's most premium "ETA Gardens" designed by Architect Jaffer AA Khan RIBA, of JDS Architects, Bangalore was almost entirely featured in the film "Muppozhudum un Karpanaigal" a tamil feature film released recently.

The project is a premium 2.1 million sft residential apartments in 16 acres which was the first green housing project cleared by the MOEF, GOI in 2005. With state of the art facilities the project has 937 units with two swimming pools and host of features.

Dr Ranee Maria, HOD of School of Architecture and Planning Anna University visited Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi on 8th Feb to inaugurate the Workshop on "Whole-P A R T" by Takbir Fatima from AA London.

Dr Ranee delivered an excellent lecture on "Craft Architecture Craft"- which followed by Q&A session.

Prof. Jaffer AA Khan Speaks on Low Carbon Lifestyle at Chennai

Professor Jaffer AA Khan, Director Marg Institute of Design and Architecture and Swarnabhoomi, spoke on "Low Carbon and Our Culture" at Nispana Conference at Chennai on 19th January 2012. His talk started human culture and its response to the needs of mankind. He said that Man's future is bleak on this planet and the time has come for it to respond or react to the damage man has done to it. This is already seen in the recent past the way planet mother has reacted causing severe damage to man and his material wealth. Hence man has no other option but to settle in other planetary environment for which he has to pay heavy price. The world Scientific community he said is already at it and this century will see a big change in human endeavor . The Americans are already planning to settle on Moon and Mars. Commercial flights to Space and Hotels in Space is already on the cards and the experimentation is in advance stage.

Hence, it is important that the lower economies which cannot afford to settle in space, to take stock of the situation and save themselves from the wrath of the mother planet. We still have time he says.... but Man has to decide.

Jaffer Khan becomes the Director of MIDAS Chennai-India

Shri.Jaffer AA Khan RIBA is the Director of Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi (MIDAS)Chennai, affiliated to Anna University of Technology.

MIDAS is promoted by MARG GROUP in Chennai, an infrastructure company with projects more than 5000Crs.

Prof.Khan brings in 25 years of rich international experience to the education of architecture through MIDAS. The philosophy of the school is to establish a strong symbiotic relationship between education,research, theory and practice.

Prof. Khan is the gold medalist in Architecture from the University of Madras in 1983. He was awarded the most prestigious Aga Khan Scholarship Geneva to do his graduation at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning, UCL,University of London in 1985. Back home he started his practice in 1985 and has designed nearly 500 buildings many of them award winning at national and international level. His projects are widely published and nominated to The Aga Khan Award during 1995 cycle (ErodeMosque-Periagraharam Erode-MIT Digital Archives).

He maintains studios in Bangalore and Chennai and recently executed large residential projects in Bangalore. He has been a writer,critic and an academician apart from professional practice for quarter century and has written some hard hitting articles on Environment,Heritage and Sustainable Development.Presently he is in the process of writing a book on "Mosque Forms of India" and is the founder Director General of The Museum of Muslim Art, India establishing a Museum for Muslim Heritage. He is a member of some of the world's most prestigious professional bodies including The Royal Institute of British Architects(RIBA),UK and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts(RSA),London.
