RAHIMA JAFFER KHAN

My mother and father in 1954. My life and my inspiration. BHJaffer Khan was an expert in rural development and panchayathi raj. A close associate of Kamaraj Nadar- the first CM of Tamil Nadu, he has met Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehruji. He was a freedom fighter and refused to migrate to Pakistan in 1948.

As a BDO in Gingee, he trained Gopal Krishna Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma and Rajaji during his administrative services rural training.

His expertise was in Rural development and Village Administration.

Muppozudum Un Karpanaigal- Shot at The Gardens Bangalore designed by Jaffer AA Khan

Bangalore's most premium "ETA Gardens" designed by Architect Jaffer AA Khan RIBA, of JDS Architects, Bangalore was almost entirely featured in the film "Muppozhudum un Karpanaigal" a tamil feature film released recently.

The project is a premium 2.1 million sft residential apartments in 16 acres which was the first green housing project cleared by the MOEF, GOI in 2005. With state of the art facilities the project has 937 units with two swimming pools and host of features.

MIDAS with the expertise from Ms Takbir Fatima from AA London have been having workshops related to "Fractals". This reflects the design philosophy of the school which is trying its level best to excel in India and to impart architectural education at global standards.

Dr Ranee Maria, HOD of School of Architecture and Planning Anna University visited Marg Institute of Design and Architecture Swarnabhoomi on 8th Feb to inaugurate the Workshop on "Whole-P A R T" by Takbir Fatima from AA London.

Dr Ranee delivered an excellent lecture on "Craft Architecture Craft"- which followed by Q&A session.

Prof. Jaffer AA Khan Speaks on Low Carbon Lifestyle at Chennai

Professor Jaffer AA Khan, Director Marg Institute of Design and Architecture and Swarnabhoomi, spoke on "Low Carbon and Our Culture" at Nispana Conference at Chennai on 19th January 2012. His talk started human culture and its response to the needs of mankind. He said that Man's future is bleak on this planet and the time has come for it to respond or react to the damage man has done to it. This is already seen in the recent past the way planet mother has reacted causing severe damage to man and his material wealth. Hence man has no other option but to settle in other planetary environment for which he has to pay heavy price. The world Scientific community he said is already at it and this century will see a big change in human endeavor . The Americans are already planning to settle on Moon and Mars. Commercial flights to Space and Hotels in Space is already on the cards and the experimentation is in advance stage.

Hence, it is important that the lower economies which cannot afford to settle in space, to take stock of the situation and save themselves from the wrath of the mother planet. We still have time he says.... but Man has to decide.
