Prof Jaffer AA Khan Lectures at SCALA SERIES UNITEC, Auckland New Zealand

Prof. Jaffer AA Khan, Chartered Architect delivered a keynote lecture on "Modernity in Tradition- A reflection on the Cultural ethos of a Practice". He showcased the development of modernism in Indian after independence in 1947 and the return of Habib Rahman in 1944 which set the platform for Modern architecture in India, much before the arrival of Le Corbusier and Louis I Kahn. He also showcased his practice in context of the 1980s when the Corbusian avatar was on the wane. It was the time that he returned from Indian and participated in IGNCA competition which was an inspiration based on "Yantra". His practice continues to work on this concept on various projects interpreting the meaning of "Bindu" in its different avatars related to Human life.
Presently he is working on a "Holocaust Museum" for the Tamil in Srilanka at the location where the last massacre and the war for freedom fight ended in 2009.
Prof. Khan live in New Zealand and teaches at UNITEC Auckland, New Zealand.
